Ewa Olszewska, M.D., Ph.D., titled professor graduated from the Medical University of Bialystok, Poland. She started her academic career as an assistant in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology Medical University of Bialystok, Poland.
After a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, she passed the board exam.
She achieved Ph.D. for the dissertation „ Some markers of proliferative and apoptotic activity in cholesteatoma epithelium in adults”. Her dissertation was awarded for the best Ph.D. dissection in 2002 by the Polish Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Head Surgeon.
She became an associate Professor in 2007-2013 and a titled Professor 6 years later.
She was a director of the Ph.D. program at the Medical University of Bialystok, Poland from 2012 to 2017. She completed many scientific and clinical scholarships and observerships. Among many, there were scholarships in the Department of Otolaryngology in Vienna and Salzburg, Austria earned from the Austrian-American Foundation, scientific research concerning pathogenesis of cholesteatoma in the laboratory of Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany, observership in the Department of Otolaryngology Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA, observership in the Department of Otolaryngology Loyola University, Chicago, USA, earned from Kosciuszko Foundation, observership in the Department of Otolaryngology St. Louis University, USA, observership in the Department of Otolaryngology Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA, observership in the Department of Otolaryngology, Division of Sleep Medicine, University of Michigan, USA.
She is an associate Editor of the Journal of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, a member of the Editorial Board of Otology&Neurotology and Journal of International Advanced Otology, a member of the International Surgical Sleep Society, World Sleep Society and Polish Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
She is a co-author of 210 publications, IF 128,637, Citation in Web of Science Core Collection 1102, H-index 16.
She is the author of the book “Snoring and sleep apnea- diagnostics and Treatment”, Medipage Warsaw 2019.
Currently, she is a director of the Sleep Apnea Surgery Center, at the Department of Otolaryngology Medical University of Bialystok, Poland
Her main interests are diagnostic and treatment protocols in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), surgical procedures in OSA, research related to potential biomarkers and oxidative stress in OSA.
