Katja Pavšič received her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, in 2014. After completing her medical internship, she joined the Department of Vascular Neurology and Intensive Therapy at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana as a “young researcher”. Her research focused on breathing abnormalities, ranging from sleep-disordered breathing to overt respiratory failure, in patients with unilateral lateral medullary infarction. She successfully defended her PhD thesis on this topic in 2020. She has a strong research and clinical interest in sleep medicine. She obtained the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Sleep, Consciousness and Related Disorders from the Academy of Sleep and Consciousness in collaboration with Università della Svizzera Italiana and the University of Bern in 2019. In 2024, she passed the European Sleep Research Society’s Sleep Medicine Examination, earning certification as a Somnologist. She is currently a senior-year neurology resident at the Division of Neurology, University Medical Centre Ljubljana.
