Biography

Vita Štukovnik is a clinical psychologist and holds a PhD in medical sciences. She is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Maribor. Her research interests focus on sleep, neuropsychology, and cognitive disorders. From 2005 to 2019, she worked at the Neurology Clinic of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, where, in collaboration with the Sleep Disorders Laboratory, she was the first in Slovenia to introduce cognitive-behavioral therapy for the treatment of insomnia. Her clinical work now primarily involves the treatment of chronic insomnia using non-pharmacological approaches. In addition to her clinical and research activities, she is also engaged in the promotion of healthy sleep and regularly collaborates with the National Institute of Public Health, as well as numerous Slovenian schools and other institutions.
